Ridiculous: Reading fan ejected from Madejski Stadium for singing

The atmosphere at football matches, particularly in England, has been heavily scrutinised in recent times. The ‘best atmosphere in football’ tag that the English game and its fans and teams have acquired over the years seems to have moved on to other parts of the world.

Now, in some stadiums, singing can land you in trouble it seems.

During Reading’s home game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, a Royals fan was asked to leave after he tried to generate a bit of extra noise by encouraging some chanting from a usually quiet part of the stadium. This, added in with the fact that he was standing up, meant stewards reportedly ejected him.

Harsh or fair?
