Goalkeepers scoring goals is a great thing to see but it’s a bit of a rarity for obvious reasons, unfortunately. There’s a few who’ve bucked the trend though with names such as Tim Howard, Peter Schmeichel, Hans-Jörg Butt and José Luis Chilavert springing to mind, amongst a whole host of others from over the years. Well, there’s a new kid in town.
Step forward Mark Oxley, who didn’t just score a goal, but he scored the winning goal, on his debut, from inside his own box. Some will say it’s a bit lucky but Mark Oxley won’t care. It’s a goal. He’s a goalkeeper.
