Time for Daniel Levy to leave Tottenham?

Like a swarm of locusts destroying a field of crops, sociopath Daniel Levy has turned White Lane into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. By rewarding Mauricio Pochettino with a five year contract, the trigger happy twerp has confirmed what we all thought – he’s bonkers.

If sacking managers was a crime, Levy would be sentenced to life. In fairness, he doesn’t discriminate. He’ll sack anyone. Gerry Francis had a shocking haircut, sacked. Martin Jol had none, sacked. AVB had a beautiful head of hair, sacked. Harry Redknapp delivered Champions League football, sacked. A lot like reading a Lonely Planet Guide to Syria, a Spurs edition would recommend avoiding at all costs.

You see, managers aren’t the problem. In fact the issue at hand is so easily identifiable it’s akin to looking for a flamingo in snow. Instead, it’s that bloke who knows nothing about football and a man whose scattergun approach to running a football club has turned Spurs into a circus; a laughing stock. His willingness to discard a manager as if he was throwing away an empty crisp packet is a personality trait most would, and do, hate.

And his treatment of managers has, since sacking Martin Jol during a game, been nothing short of abysmal. It is Levy who should be sacked, not the manager. Without him, perhaps Spurs can truly flourish. Like a straightjacket keeping the limbs of its patient inside, he is a hindrance keeping progress at bay – a specialist in delivering nothing but empty promises.

But that’s not enough. Milking a few extra millions out of Real Madrid wasn’t worth the dross bought in to replace Gareth Bale. It was Levy who sanctioned those signings. So how does he get away with it? Modric, Carrick and Berbatov were all sold when instead of building; the pieces were pulled away like a falling Jenga stack.

There’s no doubt Pochettino is a talented young manager, but if Spurs fail to qualify for the Champions League, he’s a goner. Like AVB who fled to Russia, a P45 will have the Argentine scampering to a far flung European country with his tail between his legs, desperately trying to rebuild a tattered reputation.Success shouldn’t be measured in pounds, margins, profit and spreadsheets but in trophies and glory. For too long now, Spurs fans have been sold a bum deal.

Levy is a dictator – a megalomaniac of massive proportions. It’s about time he done the decent thing and stepped aside. Buy a mirror, look into it. Anyway, what’s the Spanish for ‘what have I got myself into?’

  1. You say ‘Modric, Carrick and Berbatov were all sold when instead of building’, they were also bought by Levy. You say ‘Milking a few extra millions out of Real Madrid wasn’t worth the dross bought in to replace Gareth Bale’, that’s a very big statement. Who said they’re dross. You said it and at the end of this season you’ll still have said it. Daniel Levy is building Spurs on a budget and he is more capable of it than anyone I know who’s not a rich Arab or Russian. He has put the wheels in motion for a new stadium and is desperately trying to progress the Club to CL status so he can get appropriate sponsorship to progress this plan. Spurs were held back for ten years by ‘skin flint’ and profiteer Alan Sugar. The were saved from further rape by ENIC and they are doing a good job in progressing the club to the stage it’s at now. Arsenal took 10 years without much progress to get to where they’re at and they needed qualification to the CL to get to where they’re at now. ENIC and Daniel Levy are trying to emulate that and they/he deserves encouragement, not criticism.

  4. Stupid article, no doubt written by a schoolboy or a non Spurs fan. Under Francis, Spurs were getting nowhere, Jol was an assistant to Santini who left the club after 3 months in charge and the job fell into Jol’s lap. He couldn’t beat the top sides and his record since being dismissed by Spurs speaks even greater volumes. Redknapp cut his own throat when he craved the England job, convinced by his mates in the press that the England job was his even though Levy gave him his full backing with the court case and offered to extend his contract in March of that year. Spurs were also 10 points ahead of the scum and he took his foot off the pedal, the rest is history. Previous to him, Ramos was a joke, couldn’t communicate with the players despite winning the Carling Cup, we were dangerously close to being relegation fodder, enter Redknapp. As for AVB, that self opinionated one trick pony, he relied far too much on one man, Bale, wouldn’t listen to anyone but himself and in hindsight should never have been appointed in the first place after the Chelsea fiasco despite his success in Portugal. As for Deadwood (the interim), the less said that better. If MP pans out to be a raving success and that’s a big IF, all of this nonsense written about Levy and Spurs will be ephemera (yesterdays news). The media has obviously done as good job in influencing the Levy detractors but In Levy’s reign, he and ENIC saved the club from bankruptcy and put them in a very healthy financial position, in fairness he only really brought in 5 managers during the time he’s been here because the others were interim, Pleat (twice), Clive Alllen for a couple of games and Sherwood. I suggest you do some balanced research before writing crap, you may sound more credible.

  6. I guess Spurs are just lucky then because since Levy has been at the club the average finishing place has gone up 10 places in the hardest league in the world, the club has gone from the edge of administration to the 14th richest club in Europe, the squad has gone from an aging bunch of wannabe’s with the odd star player to a properly balanced squad which according to you is caperble of more that the 6th place it’s wage bill suggests it deserves. The training facilities have gone from a shed in a field to the best in the country and the finances and facilitation for what will clearly be the most modern up to date stadium in Europe are in place.
To achieve all that with such a poor chairman must be just pure luck. 12 years of it.

  8. Without Levy we’d be in the shit but he definitely isn’t faultless. Decent piece but perhaps the author hasn’t thought of the consequences should DL depart?

  9. As the writer of this article, I feel it’s relevant to say that I’m a Spurs fan rather than a ‘school boy’ or ‘non Spurs fan’. While I understand that Levy has his good points, I’m not a fan of his recent behavior. Regarding the ‘dross’ that was brought in, let’s have a look. Aside from Eriksen, who only really got going towards the end of the season, who else made an impact? No one. Levy should go. But that’s the great thing about football – it’s all about opinion.

  10. Levy is the best chairman we have had in 40 years and if you can’t see that you know little about football. 8 managers and 5 interim/caretaker managers, Southampton have had 17 in the same time!

Go back to colouring with your crayons.

  11. I want Levy out. He’s tight, destructive and trigger happy. I just worry more about who could potentially come in.

    1. Finally someone who knows what time it is
      Levy has no football sense
And with the new premier league money a monkey could do a better job at not selling to the highest bidder.
ENIC also had investment in Rangers before they went belly up.
The Internet is filled with angry 12 year olds, too bad so sad

  12. So basically you want to get rid of a man who genuinely loves Spurs and wants what’s best for us? He can’t get it all right but he’s doing a good job. I’d rather Levy than a Sheikh or a dodgy businessman after a quick fix. Think about it.
